1. Water
Water is the best drink before any workout. But not only water. You should always have at least two liters of water before going to the gym. Why? Because if you don't drink enough water, you'll feel tired, dehydrated, sluggish, and weak. Plus, having low blood volume can decrease muscle performance.
2. Coffee
Coffee helps us stay awake while we're working out. If you want to get even more energy, add some caffeine pills (100mg) to your coffee.
3. Sports Drinks
Sports drinks aren't necessary before a workout, however, they do help replenish electrolytes lost from sweating. Electrolytes are minerals that are naturally present in our bodies. The best ones to use before a workout are Gatorade, Powerade, and Isostar.
4. Energy Bars
Energy bars are great pre-workout snacks. However, they shouldn't be eaten right before a workout. Instead, eat them 2 hours before.
5. Protein
Protein helps build muscles after exercise. So, eating protein shakes immediately after exercising will help you recover faster.
6. Lemon Juice
Lemon juice contains citric acid, which can increase your metabolic rate and boost fat burning. However, drinking lemon juice straight before a workout isn't recommended. First, it's acidic. And second, it may cause stomach cramps.
7. Honey
Honey is full of antioxidants and vitamins. It can also keep you feeling fuller longer. Just make sure you don't overdo it, though. A teaspoon of honey is fine, but a tablespoon could give you a sugar crash.
